My name is Emily and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, currently working toward my independent license. I work with a wide range of ages and client needs and support clients to explore identity, cope with life’s challenges and achieve meaning and wellness. Outside of my work as a therapist, I love exploring the outdoors with my anxious rescue dog, searching for sea glass and relaxing by the ocean. I also enjoy dedicating time to my ever-growing collection of art and craft projects.

What is a typical first session like with you?

A first session with me is a chance for us to get to know one another. You can expect for me to ask you questions about what brings you to therapy and your background/history. You can expect to be able to talk in whatever way feels best in your body - that may mean sitting across from me in a chair, playing together on the floor, doodling/making art or engaging in some movement. You can also expect to be welcomed to ask me questions about myself as well!

What are some of your favorite approaches?

My training as a social worker and in human geography informs my practice deeply. I approach therapy in a person-centered manner that acknowledges systems of oppression and environmental impacts. I gravitate towards solution-focused, internal family systems and narrative frameworks to help clients learn more about themselves and integrate coping skills into their daily lives. I also often use play, art and a sense of humor in this process as well.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I participated in a children’s circus growing up in Maine and can still ride a unicycle!
