When your child struggles, it affects everything. These therapy sessions for parents can help you show up differently for you and your child.

If you've ever wondered "Am I doing this right?" – this program is most definitely for you.
Think of it as short-term, structured therapy focused on helping you better understand and respond to your child's emotional and behavioral needs. Sessions are led by Artful Life therapists who are experienced in working with children, so the guidance is grounded in how kids actually think, feel, and develop.
The focus is on you as the parent: your experience, your responses, and your capacity to support your child in everyday moments. It's practical, supportive, and built for real life.
Many families begin here while waiting for child therapy services and often find this support makes a meaningful difference.
In Parent Support Sessions, you'll build the kind of understanding that changes how you show up, not just in the hard moments, but across the board.
Together with your therapist, you learn to:
Over a short period of time, many parents notice more calm in themselves, fewer power struggles, a clearer sense of their child's needs, and often a real sense of relief. These seemingly small shifts in you can create waves of meaningful shifts for your child.

Founded in 2016 by Natalie Blue and Madelene Pario, The Artful Life is the North Shore's only Expressive Arts Therapy group practice of its kind. What started as a single studio, has expanded into two locations in Beverly and Salem, MA, with a full team of masters-level licensed therapists serving clients of all ages.
Our studios are a welcoming, fully-inclusive environment for all. Your identity and lived experience aren't checked at the door. They're central to the work.
Our work is guided by four core beliefs:
No. We offer therapy for parent support (which insurance covers). Parent coaching is different, and is typically private-pay, and often expensive. We provide personalized therapy, with particular care given to how we can support you as a parent.
Because you are the most consistent presence in your child's life. Working on your understanding, your responses, and your own nervous system regulation creates real change in your child's environment, often more immediately than child therapy alone. This isn't about facing blame. It's about giving you the tools to make a difference right now.
Yes! This is exactly why we started this program and what many families do. Rather than waiting, Parent Support Sessions let you start building tools and insight immediately. Many families find it makes a meaningful difference on its own, and it sets a strong foundation for when child therapy begins.
Most parents start with 6–8 focused sessions. This is short-term, structured work, not always ongoing therapy. The goal is to give you practical tools and insight you can apply right away, not keep you in sessions indefinitely.
That's not uncommon — and it's welcome here. Parent Support Sessions create space for you to process what comes up for you, not just strategize about your child. If deeper personal work feels needed, your therapist can help you think through next steps and also recommend how this may influence your own parenting style.
You don't have to wait to begin helping your child. Start with support for you.
