I earned my degree from Boston University’s Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine program. Originally from Guatemala and a first-generation immigrant, my cultural background is an important part of who I am and shapes my commitment to providing culturally responsive care. I believe each person’s cultural identity, lived experiences, and values deserve to be recognized and honored in the therapeutic space.
My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences, processing difficult emotions, and navigating life’s challenges. I find meaning in helping people gain a deeper understanding of themselves, recognize their strengths, and create meaningful changes that allow them to move forward with greater confidence and clarity.
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a connection. I’ll share a little about myself and my approach to therapy, and I’ll ask questions to better understand what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to work on. We’ll also talk about what therapy might look like for you and begin identifying goals together based on your needs and priorities.
I know starting therapy can feel intimidating, so I want to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself and sharing what’s on your mind without fear of judgment. My hope is that, over time, we can work together to help you better understand yourself, navigate life’s challenges, and make changes that feel meaningful to you. You’re always welcome to ask questions, share your thoughts, or let me know what is or isn’t working for you throughout our work together.
I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also incorporating creative and expressive techniques into my work. I enjoy using activities like drawing, blackout poetry, and clay to help clients explore their emotions and express experiences that may be difficult to put into words. I also like incorporating CBT and DBT skills to help clients recognize unhelpful thought patterns, manage distress, navigate interpersonal relationships, build coping skills, and practice mindfulness. I also value ACT, particularly for helping clients make room for difficult emotions while exploring what matters to them and how they want to move forward. I enjoy finding ways to make therapy engaging and meaningful for each client, while adapting interventions to their individual needs.
I love to paint, go on bike rides, travel to different countries and learn new hobbies.
