Meeting a new therapist can be a very intimidating and vulnerable experience, whether it's your first time in therapy or beginning therapy with a new provider. For first sessions I prioritize learning about you and building trust. I'll give you a quick tour of the studio so you can get accustomed to the facility and introduce you to the creative materials we have available. From there we can discuss what your relationship is with creativity and come up with a creative exercise to get to know each other!

I have 2 years of experience utilizing the Child-Parent Psychotherapy model, which consists of play therapy jointly conducted with the child (aged 0-5) and their caregiver together to address any ruptures in the relationship and foster healing. I also believe strongly that narrative exercises like journaling or creative writing can help clients express themselves and process their experiences. I also like to include coaching on coping skills and psychoeducation regarding child development for parents and caregivers!

I have a nearly encyclopedic level of knowledge about dog breeds and I love to collect vintage books.
Hi, I'm Molly Humphreys! I'm a pre-licensed therapist at the Artful Life Center. I am originally from Summit, New Jersey, then studied at the University of Vermont for psychology before returning to New Jersey to pursue my social work graduate degree at Rutgers University, which I obtained in 2022. Now I'm here on the North Shore beginning a colorful new chapter at the Artful Life!
I believe art and expressing ourselves can be a very healing activity and can help us gain new insight into ourselves and experiences. I utilize a trauma-informed lens and enjoy working with individuals and families across the lifespan. I also have a strong passion for working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and providing an affirming therapy environment to address experiences of discrimination and minority stress as well as other relational or mental health struggles.
