  • Meeting someone new is hard enough, and meeting someone you're supposed to open up to is a whole other thing! A first session with me is low pressure and conversational. I want to get a sense of where you are and where you'd like to be. This is also a chance for you to get to know me and ask anything you'd like. My goal is simply to start building a picture of your goals so that our time together can be shaped around what matters most to you.

  • My approach is holistic and individualized. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model of therapy, and I try to let each client's unique needs guide the direction of our work together. Play therapy is something I incorporate with younger clients as a developmentally appropriate way to communicate and process. I am particularly drawn to Internal Family Systems as a way of helping clients understand and relate to different parts of themselves with curiosity rather than judgment, and often draw on narrative and mindfulness practices to help clients make meaning of their experiences and stay grounded in the present.

  • When I was younger, my brother and I were chosen to be in a Six Flags promotional photoshoot! We got to ride Superman back-to-back until they got the shot they were looking for and our photos ended up on their website and in print advertisements all around the park. To this day, I won't pass up a good roller coaster!

Hi there! I'm Melissa, a pre-licensed clinician who believes that creativity can uncover what words sometimes can't. I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut, where I also earned a minor in Studio Art. I returned to school to pursue my master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide, where my training in family systems deepened my understanding of how our relationships shape who we are.

Art and creative expression have always been a natural part of how I understand and move through the world. Together with my graduate training, this drew me toward expressive arts as a way to offer clients something beyond words alone. I draw from person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and emotionally focused approaches. At the heart of my work is the belief that every client deserves to feel fully engaged and heard, whether that's expressed verbally or creatively.
