The first session is a chance to meet, understand my therapeutic approach and working style, and learn more about you and what brings you to therapy. When working with children and families, I like to give a tour of our space and art supplies and start to build opportunities for connection and comfort in the space.
-
I encourage creative expression among both children and adults, often providing materials and prompts to start to explore feelings with art materials and building awareness of self through some guided breathing or movement.

I love the ocean! In the summer, I am often swimming 2-3 days a week.
I like to work from a body-based place, often bringing awareness to the body and sensation into the conversation to help build presence and connection to self. I graduated from Grinnell College with a major in Dance and later completed a master's degree in Dance Movement Therapy and Clinical Mental Health at Lesley University.
I specialize in working with young children ages 3-12 on self-expression, building body awareness, and supporting families around behavioral challenges, ADHD, depression and anxiety. I also work with young adults and adults around life transitions, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and depression.
I have experience teaching creative dance to children and adults and facilitating site-specific and community dance performances around social causes including water and human rights in in several different communities in Minnesota, Iowa, Massachusetts, London, and Southeast Asia. I also lead dance movement therapy classes at independent, assisted-living and dementia care facilities in the Somerville/Cambridge area.
